Painted Oar
After having varnished oars for many years, and having
the varnish go bad (or need renewing too often)
I painted both oars.
Sometimes oars get used for taking soundings (water depth measurement)
in shallow areas.
The pattern on the blades is measured in 3 inch sections.
Further up the loom there are rings at one foot intervals.
Note that the grips are left bare.
I am told that bare wood grips are easier on the hands.
