Arnold Eric Sevareid and Walter C. Port graduated high school in 1930 and decided to have an adventure before they went on with their lives, going to college and/or getting jobs.
They named their 18 foot long canoe Sans Souci in French - Without a Care. and painted on her side - Minneapolis to Hudson Bay -
This book was based on a diary kept by Sevareid during the trip and articles they sent back to the newspaper.
