This book is persented in 2 parts. The first describes the adventures of the Norse people in the North Atlantic, interpreting the information available from the Sagas and that historical data which is available from other sources. The second is the text of many historical Sagas and other sources. There is a third part which includes some other sagas or writings mostly to do with the home countries.
One of the things learned is that these people were often their worst enemies, killing one another often, and with only the mildest of consequendes. They also were acomplished seamen, but even they often enough lost ships at sea, never to be seen again.
This book is well indexed and documented. It is a scholarly work.
