to the Oriental Institute Museum.
(Joseph and Jennifer went on to the bookstore.)
The Oriental Institute Museum museum is dedicated to the history of the area from what is now Egypt, Turkey, Iraq and Iran.
It has a considerable collection of cunieform tablets, items from the Hittite empire, the Tigrus-Euphrates civilizations
and some very interesting exhibits on ancient Egypt and the Persian empire.

The photo below with a person in the picture to give perspective on the size of the Lamassu.
The cunieform chisled under the belly of the Lamassu.
Most cunieform was pressed onto clay, but as we do with our monuments, some text is chisled into stone.

as marquetry does in, wood instead of these figures being painted - see detail below

Models of ancient Egyptian boats
I find it very interesting that the steering oars on these models
are set in the middle of the stern.
Most illustratinons of the boats of this era show them with steering oars on the sides of the rear of the boats.

Interesting that among the ancient Egyptian examples there are some which are woven baskets and others which are coil baskets.
Most native American made baskets are coil made.
