The coiled staircase which has no central support, yet works perfectly.

The staircase was constructed to replace a ladder.
The young ladies were uncomfortable climbing a ladder in their skirts.
An internerant carpenter made the staircase, soaking the wood to make it plyable.

This chapel was sold to the hotel which is now connected to it, and is no longer a consecrated church.
