On the way to Camp Karankawa, we stopped at the Kenedy Ranch Museum in Sarita, Texas and had a personally guided tour. The history of the Kenedy Ranch was completely explained. This ranch is adjacent to the King Ranch. Kenedy was a partner with King during their river steamboat operations during and after the war with Mexico 1846-1848.
The Story of the Kenedy Ranch is told by the many informative murals on the walls of the museum.
There are comparatively few artifacts.
The Museum Director gave us a personal tour, explaining each mural.
The museum staff was very gracious and accomodating.
They were also extremely knowledgable, and explained their history in a very interesting and open manner.

At Camp Karankawa the Venture crew camped at a separate site from the Troop. We had a good time, and a good campfire experience. At night we found that the racoons could climb trees and go down rope after our bagged and hung garbage. We did a little canoeing, and generally had a good time.
The campsite, with some of the tents up.
The Venture Crew camped at a site with a stone pavillion.
We used it for an informal classroom.
Lake Corpus Christi was down several feet from its normal high level.
Scoutmaster Gamez made a delicious one pot supper for the "Adult Patrol".
Just before we left for home one of the vehicles had a flat,
so the Scouts had lesson in tire changing.
