Easter vigil fire
Holy Spirit Parish - McAllen, Texas

23 April 2011

This year Crew 583 lit and cared for and did crowd control for the Easter Vigil fire,
a part of the church ceremony celebrating the Easter eve.
This year it was clear, warm and we had a substantial wind from the SSE.
It has not rained in McAllen for over 100 days
and except where people have watered their lawns the toasted vegetation is tinder-like.
We were very careful with the fire this year and extinguished it soon after it was no longer needed.

Crewmember Danny is ready with the glass globe to windshade the candle as soon as it lights.

and the clergy prepare to process back into the Church
for the rest of the Easter Vigil ceremony and Mass.
