Scout Troop 80 and Venturing Crew 1849
set up and operated a Water and Refreshment Station
for the 2011 Oblate Trail Ride

It was set up on Military Highway about 1 mile west of the intersection with Ware Road.
Some of the trail riders began in Brownsville, Texas and some began at the shrine in San Juan, Texas.

The strong SE wind was a force to deal with.




Silver tarp fully attached to top of pavillion.


Attaching the legs on the first side - the downwind side.

Sand bags in place to stabelize the structure without use of stakes in the ground.


Instruction in tying a clove hitch on the sand bag.


Tying a taught-line to tighten up the downhaul.


Working on the food. Later the table is set under the pavilion.



Members of Troop 80 are assisted by members of Venturing Crew 1849, which is co-ed.

The ride finished at 1:30 PM.
The Station was taken down leaving no trace of having been there.
Many of the riders stopped and enjoyed the refreshments offered.
