As seen in the McAllen, Texas area

Brown Anole lizard
lizard on the back of a shovel - a Brown Anole - native to the Carribbean but common in S. Texas
Some of them have prominent crests as this one does, Some do not.

Other lizards sometimes seen include the Carolina Anole, the green one - various striped lizards - Mediterranean geckos
Over the years we see some species and other years they seem to disappear.

I do not use pesticides in my yard with the exception of removing wasp nests in high traffic areas (by the front or back door) and to discourage leaf cutting ants which can totally destroy whole adult trees.
